Over the past few years, technology has made its way into virtually every aspect of our life. Technology has transformed the way we think, communicate, and even the way we move around in the world. Now, technology is transforming the food industry. From food delivery to sustainable eating, food technology is a hot topic — and The Shortcut is here to tell you all about it. On March 12th, we are organising My Startup Debut – Food meets Tech, and we’re inviting some of the most prominent faces in the Finnish food-tech industry to share their stories and talk about innovation, marketing, and entrepreneurship in the field. It’s the perfect opportunity to learn, network, and maybe even kickstart your career in food-tech. In other words, this is a chance you don’t want to miss out on! If you’re still not convinced, here’s one of the most important reasons you should keep an eye on the food-tech industry: food technology is one of the most dynamic and innovative fields out there.
Food-tech is exactly what it says on the label – the incorporation of technology into the food industry. Though we might not be aware of it, technology is already firmly rooted in the way we think about food. Consider, for example, all the times you’ve ordered food delivery through an app. While this is a recent development, many of us have started to take the option to have food delivered to your doorstep with only a tap on your phone screen for granted — and it’s all because of food technology startups like Wolt and Foodora. How’s that for some life-changing technology?
However, food delivery is only scratching the surface of how food-tech is transforming the way we think about food; food technology is one of the most rapidly developing fields out there, and it doesn’t look like it’ll be stopping any time soon. The list of food-tech startups out there is endless; all it takes is a quick glance at the yearly Food Tech 25 list to see just how active the field of food technology is. Yet, even that is only the tip of the iceberg. In fact, there is a particularly lively food-tech scene in Finland — take the startup ResQ, who developed an app that lets you rescue restaurant food from the trash bin at a 50% discount; or how about Gold&Green, the company that developed Pulled Oats, a plant-based and sustainable alternative to meat? These startups are pioneers in their field, and their founders will be joining us at My Startup Debut to tell you all about their mission!
Have we peaked your curiosity yet? If we have, be sure to register now for My Startup Debut – Food meets Tech here.
